# Setup

> The guided flow every new workspace finishes before Agentrail opens, from researching your product to reviewing your first prompts and evaluations.

Setup reads your product's public website, fills in the Brand Vault, proposes competitors, then drafts topics, preference prompts and experience evaluations for you to review. Agentrail opens only when setup is finished, so a person checks everything your results are built on before the first run.

## Before you start

The first time you sign in, Agentrail asks you to **Create your organization**:

* **Organization name**: 1 to 120 characters. Setup also uses this as your product's name.
* **Website**: your product's public website. Enter `example.com`, or include `http://` or `https://`.

Select **Create organization**. You become the organization's Admin, and setup opens. Each account can create one organization. To join someone else's, use the invitation from your email (**View invitations**). See [Organizations and workspaces](/docs/guides/organizations-and-workspaces).

## The four steps

The top of the setup page shows four steps: **Research**, **Review research**, **Generate** and **Review setup**. Each step is marked **Complete**, **Current step**, **Could not finish** or **Not started**.

**Research** and **Generate** run on their own. The two review steps wait for an Admin, for as long as you need.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start setup">
    Under **Research your product**, an Admin selects **Start setup**. Setup reads your website, fills in the Brand Vault and proposes competitors. The page shows **Researching** followed by your product's name.

    This runs in the background. You can leave the page; progress is kept.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review what research found">
    Check the **Brand Vault** and **Competitors** tabs. Edit anything that is wrong or missing: drafting uses both as you leave them. Then select **Continue to drafting**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let setup draft">
    Setup drafts topics, preference prompts and experience evaluations from your Brand Vault and competitors. You can leave the page while it works.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review setup and finish">
    Check the **Topics**, **Preference prompts** and **Experience evaluations** tabs. Fix anything that needs attention, then select **Finish setup**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Review what research found

Research fills in as many Brand Vault fields as it can. A field it could not fill shows **Not set**. It leaves your own product out of the competitor list and lists each competitor's website once.

Edit freely at this step. Drafting reads the Brand Vault and the competitor list exactly as you leave them when you select **Continue to drafting**.

<Tip>
  Add any competitor research missed. With no competitors, every head-to-head prompt needs its alternative added by hand.
</Tip>

Field by field help is in [Brand Vault](/docs/guides/brand-vault) and [Competitors](/docs/guides/competitors).

## Review setup

Every preference prompt and experience evaluation belongs to one topic. Before a drafted item can run, it needs:

* a topic, for a preference prompt;
* a topic and at least one criterion, for an experience evaluation.

To find the ones missing something, turn on the **Needs attention** filter on the **Preference prompts** or **Experience evaluations** tab.

You can add, edit and delete topics, prompts and evaluations here, the same way you do on their own pages. Setup does not tag what it drafts. Add tags yourself if you want a second grouping. See [Topics and Tags](/docs/guides/topics-and-tags), [Agent Preference](/docs/guides/agent-preference) and [Agent Experience](/docs/guides/agent-experience).

## When you finish

Selecting **Finish setup** shows **Setup is complete.** and opens Agentrail. You never see setup again.

Finishing starts running your prompts and evaluations in the background. A first batch starts right away, and the rest follow your workspace's run schedule. Anything that still needs attention waits until you fix it. See [Executions](/docs/guides/executions).

Editing the Brand Vault later does not redraft anything. Change topics, prompts and evaluations on their own pages.

## Until setup is finished

No other page of Agentrail opens for anyone in the organization. The setup page has no sidebar. You can switch organization at the top of the page, or open the account menu and select **Sign out**.

## Who can do what

| Action | Admin | Member |
| - | - | - |
| See setup progress and the review tabs | Yes | Yes |
| **Start setup** and **Try again** | Yes | No |
| Edit the Brand Vault, competitors, topics, prompts and evaluations | Yes | No |
| **Continue to drafting** and **Finish setup** | Yes | No |

A Member sees **Setup has not started. An Admin can start it.** before setup begins, and **An Admin continues setup from here.** at each review step. See [People and roles](/docs/guides/people-and-roles).
